Inoue Mao eats crickets in Thailand
New movie “Taiheiyou no Kiseki ~Fox to Yobareta Otoko~ (Miracle in Pacific ~The man who was called Fox~)” starring Takenouchi Yutaka, was released today on February 11th. The cast members for the movie appeared at a special opening event and greeted everyone on stage at TOHO cinemas Yurakuza.
On the stage, Takenouchi talked about the scenes shot in Thailand from May – July 2010. He confessed that it was nice to see Inoue Mao eating crickets at a stand in Thailand, and Inoue replied, “I was forced to eat them, but I also couldn’t resist Takenouchi-san’s shiny eyes saying ‘It’s delicious.’” Inoue also said that the crickets tasted like oil, and it was very aromatic.”
As tokyohive reported several times, the movie is originally a book by Don Jones who was a United States Navy admiral, and is being made as a project of the 70th year since the outbreak of war between Japan and America. The movie will be made from both the Japanese and American point of view. Takenouchi plays general Ohba who was called FOX by the American solders.
Takenouchi also talked about his thoughts toward the movie, “It’s impossible to describe all the experiences of the people who survived a fierce battle into the 2 hours long movie, but I hope this would be a trigger for people to think and convey about war.”
To the stage greetings, other cast members, Yamada Takayuki, Nakajima Tomoko, Okada Yoshinori, Abe Sadawo, Karasawa Toshiaki, as well as the 30 extras who played the solders under Takenouchi.
