DAY of TRAGEDY: JAPAN EARTHQUAKE and TSUNAMI

picture taken from BBC News
I first heard the news from my co-worker saying that an 8.9 magnitude earthquake has hit Japan and its being threatened with tsunami.. I really didn't pay much attention with it 'coz i was so busy with work. Then when i got home while checking my FB it struck me how serious it was.. my news feed was filled with news/updates all about the tragedy that happened in JAPAN; Others were posts about prayers for safety of Japan and there were also high alert tsunami warnings issued to Russia,Marcus Islands, northern Marianas and a tsunami watch has been issued in Guam, Taiwan, the Philippines, the Marshall Islands,Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Nauru, Micronesia and Hawaii.

While checking at Google for latest news about happenings in JAPAN I found this:

Time Magnitude Location
27 minutes ago 6.8 Off the east coast of Honshu, Japan Map
19 hours ago 7.1 Off the east coast of Honshu, Japan Map

There still some aftershocks happening as of this moment. This tragic event has been reported as one of the most disastrous earthquake that has hit Japan. The country is now experiencing a double disaster-- tsunami and earthquakes. Another thing to worry about is the AFTERMATH of all of this -- the extent of damage, people trapped in rubbles, homeless families, lack of transportation and electricity, cost of damage and repair, rescue operations, etc.

NHK update (as of 8:35pm CST, March 11, 2011): 427 dead and 720 missing

Other concerns are the nuclear power plants that threatens to have radioactive leak to spread, continuous aftershocks, and another rumor of a bigger tsunami to hit Japan again.

This disastrous calamity has already spread like wildfire across the internet and is the main topic of every news station across the globe.

With this kind of tragedy, it suddenly hit me with the idea -- "is this the beginning for the so-called prediction "End of the World"?!?!" But at times like this its time to be united to help countries that are in need of help. Its good to know that the UN has already made a declaration to help the Japanese people.

~~**praying for the safety of Japanese people**~~
